What is Pilates?

A form of exercise developed by Joseph Pilates in the early 20th Century.

Originally popular with dancers as a form of cross-training to support their bodies, Pilates is suitable for any body, providing the strength and flexibility that is achievable for all. Pilates builds strength from the inside out, focusing on developing core strength which will help you in your everyday life.

People who engage in Pilates find an improved body awareness and improvement in their posture. This can be especially helpful for those leading sedentary lifestyles or in jobs that require sitting for long periods of time. Pilates can alleviate lower back pain, aid injury recovery and improve joint mobility and tone muscles. It is suitable for all ages and levels of fitness, is popular with celebrities as a form of staying fit and health, and comes highly recommended by the NHS.
